Excerpt: With prodding from an old poet from Pasig, a tiny male lizard puts on a gown of midnight blue to bridge two couturiers—one greying, and the other still green—forges a fashion brand, and consequently finds itself transformed into the gothic dragon it longs to be. So goes “Gotita de Dragon,” the title story of the collection, which gathers only five of several stories for young readers that Joaquin wrote in the 1970s. Ten of those were published in a series, now out of print, called Pop Stories for Groovy Kids.
