Description
Summary:Excerpt: Excerpts from the 1965 movie adaptation of A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino recently circulated on Facebook. The original was a play written in 1950 by Nick Joaquin, National Artist for Literature, about a genteel family living in Intramuros, holding on to vestiges of wealth, legacy, and honor even as they lived under the very real threat of the Second World War. My family had intimate knowledge of the material, having produced it under the Barangay Theater Guild (BTG) for staging at the Aurora Gardens in Intramuros in 1955 and for airing on radio a few years before that.
