Funding Source: Parents Cost: Php 5, 000 Date Started: June 2012 Date Finished: March 2013 Scope of the Study This study sought to determine the depression among adolescents with orthopedic impairment. This study was conducted to 10 patients of the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center of De La Salle University Medical Center Dasmariñas Cavite. A purposive sampling technique was used to gather the research respondents. Methodology This study utilized observation, self made structured interview and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale Test as research tools. Qualitative or descriptive method of research was used in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data. Conclusion Depression among adolescents with orthopaedic impairment is at a high rate. Negativism is the key word for the depression that the respondents were experiencing. Almost all of the people with orthopaedic impairment suffer from prolonged depression through their cognition that develops their negative thoughts and behaviour. Despite the depressing condition of being orthopedically impaired, it is also concluded that the people experiencing depression can draw hope through self motivation, acceptance, positivism and people’s care and support which are the primary coping strategies. Recommendations 1. This study recommends people with orthopaedic impairment especially those who are experiencing depression, to learn how to motivate themselves in order to get over or cope with prolonged depression and for them to have a better and brighter future. It is recommended that they seek help through others as well as to seek their true happiness and cease their pessimism. 2. This study also recommends institutions, government or private, which are responsible with the cases of orthopaedic impaired people to be fully aware and sensitive to their patients. 3. Extensive researches concerning people with orthopaedic impairments experiencing depression in relation to other factors and variables are highly suggested. The use of other tests or experiments can be formulated. 4. For future researchers, it is recommended to broaden the range of the study by accumulating some variables and taking it into consideration for the study to have any extraordinary clichés. This study could serve as their basis and reference for their future researches. 2013 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text http://thesis.dlsud.edu.ph/1439/1/DeGuzmanM%20etal%20...%20-%20Depression.pdf De Guzman, Mhisa C. and Españo, Joana Maureen M. and Figuerres, Miguel Karlo P. and Peñalosa, Nordiolyn Joy C. the range of the study by accumulating some variables
and taking it into consideration for the study to have
any extraordinary clichés. This study could serve as
their basis and reference for their future researches. |
