With this in mind, the researchers were triggered to study the parenting styles as perceived by the eldest adolescents of University of Perpetual Help - Dalta System school year 2004-2005 and its relation to their emotional intelligent quotient. This study also aimed to distinguish differences among parenting styles. The researchers focused on the three key styles of parenting - authoritarian, authoritative and permissive. The descriptive method of research was utilized in gathering information from 378 students with age ranging from 12-21 years old as respondents collected through modal instant purposive sampling. The statistical tools used to understand the data gathered were the frequency distribution, percentage and chi-square.
