| Summary: | One of the major factors that contribute to the success of the leadership of a certain City
or Town of a Local Government Unit is the crime rates recorded within the city. Through the
crime rates recorded by the Philippine National Police the proponents tried to assess whether the
implementation of rules and laws in the city is effective or not. Crime Prevention Programs play
a very important role in a specific city or town. These Programs are implemented to prevent
crimes from happening in the city. Through these programs, factors affecting the spread of Crime
within a city are prevented and eliminated. The Philippine National Police and the Authorities of
the Local Government Unit collaborate to form a secured and safe city for its residents.
There is active participation from its constituent. Increase of crime rate should not be blamed on
police officer alone, but also on the citizens. In Trece Martires City, citizens had a big role in
reducing crimes. Barangay officials make sure that if the problems could be solved within their
jurisdiction they solve them immediately so that they will no longer be a burden for the police
officers. Researcher also conclude that if there is a strict implementation of good programs,
crime rate will definitely be lessened. Trece Martires has a good prevention programs which help
the city to keep its crime rate one of the lowest among the cities and towns in Cavite.
Researchers conclude that crimes will be solved through the active participation of LGU‟s.
Therefore an LGU should also be active in making policy that would help the police officers in
monitoring crimes. In order to have effective crime prevention programs, the participation of
citizens, LGU together with the police authority is needed. Cooperation and active participation
are the key for the success of crime prevention programs to be successful. |
