In choosing their peers what is the factor that they tend to consider? 3.1 Physical Appearance 3.2 First Impression Research Methodology The study was about finding out which between physical appearance and first impression matters in determining how freshmen students choose their peers. The statement of the problem was specifically answered by the following: First, demographic profile that is consists of the gender and age of the freshmen respondents from CLAC. Second, their views in choosing their peers. Third, factors they tend to consider regarding their peers whether its physical appearance or first impression. This study endeavored to answer the following: First is the demographic profile of the freshmen students particularly their gender and age. Second were their views regarding the two factors of gaining peers, whether physical appearance or first impression and lastly the factor they tend to considered in gaining their peers. The respondents were 125 selected freshmen students from the College of Liberal Arts and Communication, which consisted of 39 male and 86 females, ages 15 – 19 years old. For the third factor, they tend to consider in choosing their peers, it was shown that 52.2 % of the respondents considered first impression rather than physical appearance which is only 48.8%, a little lower than the first impression factor. This clearly means that there is a significant difference between first impression and physical appearance in choosing peers. More so, First impression matters more than the physical appearance. De La Salle University – Dasmariñas Conclusions Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn: 1. The respondents have different perspectives in choosing their peers, whether it is physical appearance or first impression. Beauty is relative; impression is also relative that there are differences on how a person looks and judged that person from the others. 2. First impression matters in gaining and choosing peers rather than physical appearance. First impressions can mean a tremendous amount on how others view someone. 3. There is a difference between physical appearance and first impression in gaining peers. Things like facial expressions, attractiveness and other physical attributes can have a major effect on how others view someone. It is in human nature to pre judge someone. 2014-05 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text http://thesis.dlsud.edu.ph/96/1/CabreraMendoza%20...%20-%20PhysicalAppearance.pdf Cabrera, Cyril Ann A. and Mendoza, Maria Carmelle C.
