Description
Summary:With relatively little research done on English Language Training in Singapore, this project is intended to make a contribution to this area of study. Texas Instruments Singapore is currently conducting an English Language Taining course - "Workplace Communication Skills", for its production operators. Upon their request, this project will focus on evaluating Module Four of the course at Level Three, ie. transfer of learning. Questionnaires were administered to two groups of operators - seven operators who had graduated from the training class and 14 operators who are still in the course. These questionnaires measure operators' understanding, reading, writing, and verbal skills of the English Language before and after the course. Questionnaires were also given to six direct supervisors of these operators to gauge each operator's use of English. Interviews were conducted with the operators to gather further information.
