Summary:The primary purpose of this research project is to explore the factors that affect one to choose or not to choose social work as a career. A literature review was first performed to enhance the background knowledge for the subject as a whole. To gain an insight into the factors, face-to-face interviews were conducted with some social workers, ex-social workers, non-practitioners, National University of Singapore (NUS) lecturers and third year NUS social work undergraduates.
