Description
Summary:Life Cycle Analysis or Life Cycle Assessment is a new technique to study the main environmental impacts of a product, process or activity throughout its whole life time by establishing the life cycle inventory, and further to suggest how to minimise the negative impacts on the environment. The purpose of this study was to analyse the environmental impacts of a large scale wastewater treatment plant and identify opportunities for the improvement of its environmental performance. The Jurong Sewage Treatment Plant was selected to analyse the material use, energy consumption and releases to the environment over its three life cycle phases: construction, operation and demolition. The life cycle inventory was established and the life cycle impact analysis and the life cycle improvement analysis were carried out.
