Description
Summary:Most of the unsaturated shear strength testing associated with the research on rainfall-induced landslides have been performed using the consolidated drained (CD) triaxial test by assuming that slope failures occur slowly and therefore under drained conditions. However, for slope failures that occur rapidly, undrained conditions usually prevail. This project involves the study of the shear strength characteristics of unsaturated soils with respect to drained and undrained shearing. The characteristics of volume and pore pressure changes during drained and undrained shearing were investigated.
