Many applications through the network nowadays involved transmission of not only information in text but also in audio and video format. With increased in audio and video transmission, contention for limited amount of network bandwidth becomes more frequent. Thus efficient allocation of network bandwidth is essential. Multimedia transmission over the network also requires that data packets reach the destination without exceeding certain delay, failing which the user will experience jitters effect.
