Description
Summary:In the first part of this thesis, we investigate the modeling and measurements of building materials, especially concentrating on the measurements of EC-coated glass since it is extensively used in modern construction technology. EC thin films coated on glass or other substrates are used to attenuate incident electromagnetic waves through reflection mechanism. The introduction of the electrically conductive films also reduces infrared and visible transmissions tremendously. The reduction of infrared transmission improves the cooling load of buildings. Measurements are conducted on the soda lime glass of different slab thicknesses, and the High Performance Heat Reflective Glass (HPHRG) of different thicknesses using the rectangular waveguide systems, infrared and visible spectrometers.
