Summary: | Multimedia presentation consists of displaying a sequence of multimedia documents. Multimedia documents consist of a heterogeneous set of multimedia objects. The Server attempts to fulfill client requests by managing the allocation of network resources. Multimedia documents are divided into small units called synchronization interval units (SIU). The physical network channel is subdivided into smaller bandwidths called virtual channels. A scheduling algorithm allocates network channels to SIUs to satisfy the temporal requirements of the multimedia presentation. The project involves investigation of the design of a client/server based multimedia presentation system, proposal of an algorithm that ensures smooth display of multimedia documents and evaluation and comparison of the proposed algorithm with other landmark solutions. The performance of proposed algorithm has been compared with other landmark algorithms. |
