Summary: | CNC machining produces parts with excellent dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Today's cutting tool technology also allows a wide variety of engineering materials to be used in CNC machining. These are some of the critical qualities that are lacked in commercial RP systems. However, unlike RP process, CNC machining often requires skillful human intervention and fixturing. Therefore, a new system that combines the advantages of CNC machining and RP technologies was proposed, and is currently under development. The system was named the Stepless Rapid Prototyping (SRP) system. |
