Countries consumes natural resources and produces waste at an alarming rate and initiatives to inform and educate individuals on their ability to do a part in the fight against climate change are unfortunately sorely lacking. However, the rapid modernisation of developing countries can positively affect the spread of green information and knowledge, as the smartphone becomes a common item within most modernising societies. Mobile applications can be used to raise awareness on climate change, update users on the latest environmental news, and give them tips on what actions they can take to positively impact the environment. This project aims to create a Mobile Application that retrieves environmental news articles and gives tips and advices that urges the user to be a more environmentally friendly person. At the end of the project, an Android Mobile Application, which allows the users to browse through many news sources and read environmentally related articles, and gives environmental-based guidance to the user in the form of an e-poster, was developed. APIs and libraries such as Retrofit, Picasso, RecyclerView, PhotoView, and PaperDb, and the Firebase database, and programming languages such as Kotlin and Java were used.
