With the much-discussed issues on global warming, Singapore has recently brought up the cause and effects on a local scale. A plan for Singapore to be car-lite by 2040 indicates that a call for action is needed. Over the years, ride hailing services, such as Grab, have been the new norm for private...

A plan for Singapore to be car-lite by 2040 indicates that a call for action is needed. Over the years, ride hailing services, such as Grab, have been the new norm for private transportation across Singapore. Although such services provide a ride sharing option, it is not widely used. This is due to the fact that the routing and carpooling aspects are changed on-the-go as and when passengers are requesting for pickup. This causes uncertainty and frustration from the passengers. Additionally, the experience pushes the passengers to take private options that are not carbon-monoxide effective since the ratio of passengers to vehicle are often 1:1 or 2:1. This project aims to provide a ride sharing application that promotes sociability through carpooling, while tackling global warming issues caused in Singapore by increasing the aforementioned ratio. Although the system is far from completion for commercial usage, the core functions are deployed and ready for use. With the much-discussed issues on global warming, Singapore has recently brought up the cause and effects on a local scale. A plan for Singapore to be car-lite by 2040 indicates that a call for action is needed.
This project aims to provide a ride sharing application that promotes sociability through carpooling, while tackling global warming issues caused in Singapore by increasing the aforementioned ratio. Although the system is far from completion for commercial usage, the core functions are deployed and ready for use. |
