Description
Summary:Every day, food choices affect individual’s health - today, tomorrow, and as well as in long run. It is becoming increasingly common to see risk factors for adult chronic diseases, like hypertension and type 2 diabetes in younger ages. This is due to the unhealthy eating habits that one has. The nutrients in the foods that a person eats help to support the activities of day-to-day living, protects cells from environmental damage and repairs any cellular damage that might have occurred. Thus, it is important to keep track of one’s diet in ensuring a balanced one that includes all the necessary nutrition required for an overall healthier lifestyle. Dietary guidelines involved a considerable amount of research translation, and their enactment has vital health consequences. They provide evidence – based statements on food choices to meet nutritional standards and reduce the risk of prevailing chronic diseases. HealthApp was created for such a purpose, taking into consideration the important benchmarks for evaluating overall health quality. The developed application helps to track the user’s daily food intakes, analyses their current health condition and recommends a food based on the nutrients that the user is lacking in their diet.
