Summary:Electrochemical devices such as batteries acts as a major component in most appliances. The world of Science and Technology is moving rapidly today, which certainly motivates scientists for more discoveries to be made in improving certain devices to keep up-to-date with the technology. Most of the batteries produced today are good but some fail to meet or maintain the most important criteria such as maximum output and its longevity. Coupled with the need to make them sustainable and environmental-friendly, there are always room for improvement for an alternative method which improves its functionality. In collaboration with a chemical focused company, Lubrizol, we hope to engineer a new set of batteries that would allow for better performances for most appliances. This report aims to highlight the assembly of the newly engineered batteries as well as its performance using a different composition of binders for anode. The chemicals used for the batteries consist of Manganese dioxide for cathode and Zinc slurry coupled with different compositions of binders for anode. The results from this experiment will be used to analyse the differences in each sample and the overall battery performance which will provide a better recommendation for an alternative battery in the industry.
