Summary: | Eye-tracking is a sensor technology that enables a computer or a machine to determine the visual focus of a person. This technology is widely applied in different areas such as automotive, advertising, gaming, medical, and healthcare sector. The aim of this project is to develop a software-based real-time eye-tracking software that runs on a VR headset with an in-built eye tracker. The core idea of the implementation is to first analyze the video frames and apply image processing techniques to track the eye movement in real-time and predict the user’s point of gaze on-screen coordinate. An interactive control panel is used as a communication medium to interact with the user’s gazing point and translate the command into computer actions, such as cursor control. In the later part, a motor is introduced into the hardware integration to allow headset adjustment. With the ability of the cursor control, another interactive control panel is added to the software such that the spin direction of the motor can be controlled from the software. |
