There are certain groups of people who do not have the luxury of air-conditioned offices, nor do they have the luxury to wear short sleeves or shorts. This project aims to look into the working dress codes of these people, and create a wearable collection made out of cooling materials that are affordable yet suit working conditions. By working with cotton, which has the natural properties of cooling. It enables me to explore the possibility of experimenting cotton reaction with different materials. Such as scent, gap filler silicone as well as the study of convertible fashion. Researching into architecture's cooling design, I discovered a new way of incorporating these designs onto wearables. Working with gap filler silicone, I discovered its capability of sealing the corners of fabric preventing them from fraying. It creates a cheap and simple manufacturing process and allowed architecture design to be transferred onto clothing. CODIL achieves its purpose in creating a collection of cooling wearable for the humid weather of Singapore. Benefiting construction workers and an innovation produced that enables the application onto various fashion wearable. CODIL creates new possibilities of incorporating the ideas used in other products such as gap filler silicone and scent that creates physical and psychological cooling properties for the user. The convertible fashions aids construction worker with a cooling work uniform that is manageable for them, and a design that is upscale and modern.
