Design and development of an Energy Management System (EMS) for microgrid

As fast-growing energy demand in the developed country, a reliable, ongoing power supply is essential to enhance the grid efficiency and stability of the power system. Due to population keep increasing and economic growth, the high energy demand is being supplied to meet the requirements. Thus, resu...

Due to population keep increasing and economic growth, the high energy demand is being supplied to meet the requirements. Thus, resulting in greenhouse emissions keep increasing and cause global warming. With the use of clean and renewable energy sources, it is able to improve power quality, stability of the power system as well as reduce greenhouse gases. Therefore, a microgrid system can be implemented. In microgrid, a smart Energy Management System (EMS) is crucial for monitoring and controlling the amount of power flow from the grid to maintain the effectiveness of grid operation. This report highlights that the EMS integrates with Demand Side Management (DSM) techniques to manage the power supply as well as load demand more effectively in the microgrid. For this project, the LabVIEW is used for graphical interface which allows the users to carry out the simulation and gather the data.
