Seed survival is higher when the seeds are located further away from their parent plants. Thus, the exact location of the dispersed seeds needs to be determined. This research will make use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to determine the exact location of the seeds. This paper presents the fundamental working principles behind RFID, the components needed for seed tracking and relevant literature review. A theoretical analysis, backed by quantitative results of various read ranges using different types of antennas, indicates that RFID is a feasible technological solution for seed tracking. |
