Description
Summary:This project examines automating the process of returning an aircraft’s passenger seats to the upright position. This feature will be triggered when aircraft sensors register an abnormal change which may potentially lead to an emergency. By bringing the seats upright automatically, passengers can get into brace position at a faster rate, thus allowing the aircraft to prepare for an emergency landing with less delay. This increased efficiency of on-board emergency procedures contributes to enhancing the safety of passengers. A physical simulation as well as an online simulation has been conducted to showcase its use and evaluate its effectiveness. The time savings from the proposed automatic system as compared to the current manual process is obtained. The findings from the simulations show that the process of passenger seat adjustment during an emergency can be made at least 85 to 92 percent quicker. This indicates a good potential for further study to be conducted.
