Summary:3-Dimensional (3D) scanner with laser scanner have become one of the most persuading techniques for photogrammetry. Due to the high potentials in terms of costs, accuracy and abilities, it opens various new functions in close-range and large scale. 3D scanning is getting more prominent in various field and it is used extensively for duplication of complex articles. [1] The result captured by a 3D scanner can be digitized to build up a digital 3D representation of the item that is interested. The creation of 3D model is crucial for numerous application such as manufacturing industry to reverse engineering the existing elements, audit the standard of manufacturing element, animation commerce to imitate the character from the physical world. The 3D scanning results soothe in the examination procedure and thus diminish the manufacturing costs. In this paper, technique to stitch multiple images together and form a detailed 3D model in point cloud format and number of scanning needed to get accurate data will be studied. Hence, a comparison between 3D scanning and 3D modelling is done in this paper.
