Medication errors are known to cause serious issue during the drug administration process. Although medical equipment such as infusion pumps are inbuild with DERS to manage these errors, not all infusion pumps can be equipped with an error management systems. Epic Medical Pte Ltd attempts to overcome this issue for their infusion pump by introducing a DERS system which can be implemented in the companion mobile application of their infusion pump. The companion mobile application functions as an infusion monitoring application which can be used by clinicians and nurses for documenting infusions and monitoring of drug administration process which is carried out by each pump. This project will be analysing the problems of medications errors and examining the DERS system to learn how it can be replicated from an infusion pump to the mobile application platform.
