| Summary: | 合 means togetherness, oneness and harmony. It is one of the most honorific ideograms in China. Having grown up in a broken family, I longed for seeking the sense of harmony and togetherness. Having learned various technical joints, I found that wooden joinery and lamination have a significant characteristic to imply the metaphor of comforting and reviving fragmented spirit. Because of an increase in the rate of divorce nowadays, more and more families are facing separation. This escalation directly results in psychological problem. Consequently, I would like to find out ways of incorporating both remedial utility and beauty of conventional revealed joints with my Chinese heritage such as fortunate motifs, auspicious ornamentations and venerated forms. The main goal of this project is to convey a means of revitalisation. |
