Summary: | Electricity powers nearly everything around us. Without electricity, businesses and industries will fail to run. Thus, it is important to ensure the continuous supply of electricity. Micro-grids are one of the few solutions to supply electricity in case of power outages. Micro-grids operate similarly to power grids but on a smaller scale. Micro-grids are also connected to the power grid. But during an event of a power outage, it has the ability called “islanding”, which is cutting itself off from the power grid and supply electricity using its own generation sources and storage. They make use of two types of generation sources mainly: thermal energy sources and renewable energy sources. The purpose of this project aims to develop the best operational logics through MATLAB programming for microgrid applications through a GUI simulation tool. Through this tool, new users that intend to build micro-grids have a better way to model their micro-grids according to their load demand, wind speed of the location as well as operating limit of the generation sources. |
