Description
Summary:This report aims to analyze the effects of meshing on FEM simulation as the process of the simulation is important. This report hopes to enhance the reliability of FEM simulation. Both static and dynamic compression tests are simulated and tested on a modelled Aluminum 6061-T6 specimen. The static compression testing will be based on the ASTM e9-19 standard. Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar testing will be modelled for the dynamic compression test simulation. The simulations will be done on ANSYS version 19.3 that is provided on Nanyang Technological University Singapore’s computer terminals. The results indicate that meshing does have an effect on simulation results. However, its effects would need further research.
