It provides good physical connectivity throughout all ends of the country. In Singapore, the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) is one of the main transport service providers. They operate train services on the North-South Line, East-West Line, Circle Line, Bukit Panjang Light Rail and the latest addition the Thomson-East Coast line. The constantly demand for public transport in Singapore has always been rising over the years. In order to keep up to the demands of the public, SMRT is always trying to find new routes to bring more connectivity within the country. Also, as the demand grows, there is a need for the service to be reliable so as to not cause any unnecessary delays in this mode of travel for the public. Therefore, in May 2016, SMRT together with Nanyang Technological University, has launched a joint research laboratory to find ways to improve the overall reliability of the system. The main focus is to discover new technological driven solutions so that they are able to construct a more resilient and reliable urban rail system. In this Final Year Project (FYP), Condition Monitoring of Train Door System, it will go through methods to detect how likely the train door will run into a fault so that it be used to schedule a maintenance in order to avoid downtime during operations. This FYP will incorporate Artificial Intelligence by the means of python into creating an algorithm to detect such anomaly within the system.
