Summary: | This project is to investigate the material properties for 3D printed components on the important and rapidly growing aerospace industries. 3D printed components such as wings struts, springs and many more have a significant role in ensuring the safety and integrity of the aerospace system. This paper will investigate a small part of manufacturing technology that is called additive manufacturing (AM), it is a direct digital manufacturing and does not require any fabrication as one can simulate before building a prototype for testing. AM is also known as 3D printing. A range of overview of AM is provided. AM has a big potential to revolutionize the global parts of logistics, manufacturing, aerospace, science, and many more landscapes. It enables a wide distribution of manufacturing and production of parts required while maintaining a low cost. AM has the tendency to not only reduce cost, but also to reduce the energy consumption and the man-hours to manufacture a part. This paper explores the material, processes, and the effect a 3D component has on an aerospace industry. |
