To address to this world wide crisis, many studies have been conducted to look at the different possibilities of disposing the tyre wastes. One of the possible solutions is to recycle the tyre rubber in Portland cement concrete. The objectives of this project are to assess the engineering properties of rubberized concrete and rubberized asphalt concrete and examined their possible engineering applications. The environmental impacts of using these materials were also assessed. Two different rubber specimens were used; 1 mm to 4 mm rubber crumbs and 1 mm to 14 mm rubber shreds. Compressive strength, tensile strength, impact resistance, toughness and chemical stability of rubberized concrete with respect to the rubber specimen type and content were evaluated in this report.
