Development of ultrasonic testing procedures for corrosion evaluation of metallic rod-shaped specimens

Non-Destructive Testing is necessary to locate defects that arise due to several factors such as corrosion, wear and tear, while the structural integrity of the component is not being compromised. Investigations on railway bolt defects can benefit the worldwide significance due to uprising in railwa...

The findings on this paper is the applicability of the Full Matrix Capture, and Total Focusing Method that has been examined on the aluminum rod. Total Focusing Method is a relatively new technology and limited data is available in the world. Preliminary results are shown to provide information on the capability of Total Focusing Method to capture the images of defects at varying depths of cut to simulate the extent of corrosion.
