Description
Summary:This project aims to investigate the mechanical properties of the free surface of solids with micro-patterns using numerical simulation. Micro-cracks often occurs on the material surface due to constant exposure to external “effects”. These cracks result in different mechanical properties of the surface layer of the material which is also known as macro structure. The mechanical properties of the material that is not affected by the micro-cracks are known as micro structure. In order to identify the mechanical properties between the macro and micro structures, Finite Element Analysis is being adopted to evaluate the deformation resulted under a constant load. The simulation on the effect of the cracks will be carried out by ANSYS Static Structure.
