Summary: | The major objective of this project is to develop a high voltage pulsed power supply (PPS) modules that can be used in Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) generation systems. EMP radiation from EMP generation system can be used for the stoppage of vehicles, boats, drones, and personal mobile devices (such as PMDs). It is believed that the PPS module designs and the final EMP generation systems can be scaled down and miniaturized to be used in homeland security applications. The highly powered EMPs can be used for remote stopping of intruding vehicles at the entrance/checkpoint of critical buildings/sites, stopping of speed boats at the coastal terminals, disrupting the operation of intruding drones at critical events and remotely disrupt the operation of on-board electronics and electrical circuitries and upset the power supply to the motor so as to slow down and finally stop the negligent PMDs. The PPS is an equipment used to power magnetrons ranging from 40kV to 70kV. There are several requirements to power a single magnetron: input current, input voltage, frequency of pulses and the amount of input charge per pulse. The PPS to be developed in this project must be matched together with the EMP generation module for the effective final EMP generation system design. |
