The EEDI is an essential aspect of ship design and aims to improve the energy efficiency of a ship. International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has laid out rules in phases on the required EEDI for ships built. In this project, the ship data is collected from the well-known annual magazine “Significant Ships” published by The Royal Institution of Naval Architects between 2015-2017. Then the EEDI of several ship types are calculated and presented together with the associated main parameters and ratios of the ships. These data can be used to critically assess the influence of the new EEDI regulations on the design of ships.
