Flickering of fluorescent lightings

Light flickering was traditionally associated with incandescent lamps as the lamp luminance fluctuates with the RMS values of the supplied voltage. Fluorescent lamps, equipped with ballasts to maintain constant current flow, were largely regarded to be immune of producing perceptible flicker. Howeve...

Fluorescent lamps, equipped with ballasts to maintain constant current flow, were largely regarded to be immune of producing perceptible flicker. However, the increasing level of interharmonic voltages in the power systems has resulted in several reported incidences of flickering by fluorescent lamps. This report presents the results from an experimental investigation into the susceptibility of fluorescent lamps to flickering. The tests look into the three broad categories of fluorescent lamps widely in use, namely the conventional fluorescent tubes with separate magnetic or electronic ballasts and the compact all-in-one fluorescent lamps. 2008-11-05T08:29:25Z 2008-11-05T08:29:25Z 2007 2007 Research Report http://hdl.handle.net/10356/14173 en 26 p. application/pdf
