A clover-shaped circularly polarised antenna for satellite systems

The global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) have been used in many areas such as navigation, positioning, public safety, surveillance, geographic surveys, time standards, mapping, weather, and atmospheric information. The GNSS is a constellation of over 100 satellites mainly composed of Medium E...

The GNSS is a constellation of over 100 satellites mainly composed of Medium Earth Orbit (MEO's) satellites including GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and Compass. Additionally, the constellation is augmented by Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellites from Compass and QZSS. To cover entire GNSS band, wideband or dual band circularly polarized antennas are required. A Circularly Polarised antenna with a Medium Bandwidth is presented. The designed antenna is said to exhibit an axial ratio less than 3dB within the GNSS band of frequency. The antenna is single fed and consists of Crescent shaped slots on the patch to improve the Gain, Return loss and Axial Ratio. The circularly polarized antennas are able to offer a reliable system connection because the polarization of the antennas is always aligned. The satellites, space vehicles, and mobile vehicles require a circularly antenna to maintain a communication link with a receiver system.
