Description
Summary:The study will first review the security environment, analysing the geostrategic circumstances and their continuing relevance today. It will then describe the "new" environment and the specific threat of transnational terrorism. The roles played by the SAF, especially its strategy of joint warfare, would then be discussed and rationalized. As the SAF is well placed in its fight against the conventional state threat, it is in its new roles that the SAF would now have to concomitantly revert. Using Clausewitz's Trinity of War, the study will analyze and propose changes for the SAF. Principally, the recommendations include the segregation of the two types of capability skill sets, which would be accorded the same level of prioritization. In the conventional warfighting arena, it is surmised that the SAF is primed to handle the challenges.
