Summary: | In recent years, the requirement of antenna become more complex, the traditional single band
antenna can not satisfied certain applications, because dual-band antenna can be multi-functional.
However it’s pretty challenging when trying to design the dual-frequency band antenna, because
as the antenna gain is low, the size of the antenna increases.
In this paper, a compact dual-band micro strip antenna is designed using CRLHTL. In order to get
the compact antenna with high gain and low loss, normal materials can not meet the need.
CRLHTL can make the antenna become more compact. This antenna works on two frequency
bands ( 0.9 GHz and 2.4 GHz ).
It is chosen to use FR4 as substrate with a dielectric constant equal to 4.35. The design is based on
a CPW structure. There is a signal slot in the middle of the two ground. At the end of the signal, a
patch is connected, which radiating at 2.4 GHz. There are several slots in the patch to get 0.9 GHz.
After simulating this design, the gains of the two bands are -15 dB and -26 dB respectively. The
first band efficiency is almost 0.8 and the return loss is relatively low. |
