Evolving Japanese security policy : which theory best describes Japan?

This dissertation compares the three contending theories (antimilitarism, mercantile realism, and conventional realism) in explaining Japan's post-World War II security policy. This essay argues that military strategic concerns are the major driving forces behind Japan's security policy.
