This project aims to take on the issues that elderly individuals face when they live alone by themselves, affecting their mental health and emotions. As such, the aim of the project is to build a solution that not just aids and improve on these conditions that the elderly individuals face, but also prevent them from feeling or believing that they are alone. Eventually, the form of a companionship robot was chosen. Features such as Hokkien Conversation, Voice Journal, Messages by Loved Ones and Emergency Response were implemented into the companionship robot, allowing users to interact with the robot. In the end, most of the features were implemented rather successfully. However, due to resource constraints, it was unfeasible to implement an ideal companionship robot with no flaws within the course of this FYP. However, the future is increasingly promising for the escalation of this project into a full-fledged venture, having received positive user validation in almost every aspect. I believe this companionship robot for elderly would truly be a ground-breaking product.
