Summary: | Objective: The objective of this study is to understand the molecular basis of cellulose biosynthesis and come up with a potential herbicide design.
Methods: In this study, compound library 1432-000006, 1432-000008, and 1432-000015 was used for testing against the control CESA, to screen for any deviation in the thermal shift assay which may indicate a potential compound which might be able to use as herbicide compound.
Results: TSA results from 1432-000006, 1432-000008, 1432-000015 and by comparing it with the control whereby the melt peak is approximately 56 °C, {[1-(2-methylphenyl)-3-pyrrolidinyl]methyl}amine hydrochloride, N-(4-fluorophenyl)glycine, 2-(2-chlorophenoxy)ethanamine, N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-methylbutanamide, [2-methyl-1-(1-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)propyl]amine hydrochloride, 7-amino-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-1, N-(5-amino-2-fluorophenyl)-2-methylpropanamide, 5-(2-methylphenyl)-2H-tetrazole, N-[2-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]-2-propanamine, 1-(2-chloro-4-nitrophenyl)piperazine, N-(4-aminophenyl)-5-methyl-2-furamide, 3-(propionylamino)benzoic acid deviates from the melting peak hence showing changes to the CESA protein melting peak.
Conclusion: In conclusion, this screening using ChemBridge compound library 1432-000006, 1432-000008, 1432-000015 has shown that 12 compound shows potential to be designed as a herbicide as these compounds reacts with the CESA protein. However, more study such as its mode of actions, selectivity has to be done to design these compounds into a potential herbicide. |
