Description
Summary:This thesis aims to elucidate how Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland fits in with the genre of fairy tales that perpetrates the traditional patriarchal ideology by subverting the female figure. His narrative undermines the female figure by combining the depicted female figure in the bible with the literary technique of nonsense and allusions. However, a study on the reworks by Walt Disney and Angela Carter offers the domesticated female figure an alternative hope of having a voice and self identity autonomous from the patriarchal institution.
