Synthesis of two-dimensional materials for potential magnetic properties
Since graphene was first discovered in 2004, two-dimensional (2D) materials are becoming increasingly more popular because of its varying physical, chemical and electrical properties [1]. Because of their large magnetic anisotropy, 2D magnetic materials can keep their magnetic order down to the mono...

In addition, 2D magnetic materials have a wide range of properties that vary greatly from their bulk equivalents, making them an ideal medium for studying the fundamental physics of 2D magnetic material devices in the future. In this study, we will be exploring magnetism in the 2D realm and find new 2D magnets by synthesizing 2D materials via chemical vapour deposition (CVD) for potential magnetic properties. The factors that influence the synthesis of 2D materials such as the type of gas and precursor used as well as the temperature and distance between the precursor and substrate will also be thoroughly discussed.
