Although the increase in technology has helped develop various unique features into the modern vehicle system, such as the keyless fob and parking assist however two of the most critical aspects of the vehicle system, safety and security, have been neglected. As vehicles have implemented some safety, such as airbag placement, these features can prevent injuries and not an accident. Simultaneously, as only high-end cars have better security features built into the vehicle and not many people can afford them. These disadvantages cause most vehicles on the road do not enough safety and security features in place.
This project aims to develop a low-cost device installed in most vehicles using Raspberry Pi 4 embedded system. A biometric sensor such as an optical fingerprint sensor and facial recognition to enhance the owner’s authenticity will be further discussed. A driver drowsiness system will be implemented into the system to ensure the driver is alert to the surroundings by detecting the eyelid movement using the extraction of feature landmarks.
A Graphical User Interface (GUI) application is to be developed to allow new users to be registered into the system or existing user to update existing biometrics data. |
