Description
Summary:In Singapore, future smart grid network provides and delivers electricity from the power plant as well distributed energy resources (mainly solar PV system installed at roof-top) to the homes before it powers the equipment such as lighting, fan, and motor. The current energy cyber physical system (CPS) makes use of SCADA that is interconnected with different equipment such as MTUs, RTUs, PMUs and sensors. These equipments are used to monitor, measure, and control the system operation. The malicious users can launch an attack on the energy system by targeting the communication channel, operational modules, sensor devices and actuators of a control device. Such attacks can be hidden by manipulating the measurement of the feedback to the system. The project objective is to prove whether blockchain technology is effective in terms of preventing malicious users attack such as injection of false data into the system. Since the current security of the energy cyber system is imperfect, the blockchain has an excellent encryption features that make it a promising application to enhance the smart grid security.
