Description
Summary:Experimental study of austenitic stainless steel angles has been carried out and described in this report. Fifteen types of specimens were observed in the experimental testing, all of grade 304 stainless steel. The experimental programme in this project consisted of geometric imperfection measurements, material tensile coupon tests, and tensile test on the fifteen prepared specimens. The obtained test results were used to analyse key properties which affect the ultimate strength capacity of the austenitic stainless steel angle. These results were also utilized to evaluate the accuracy of the current design guideline, such as the European code and American specification. Overall, both codes offer certain advantages, though further improvements remain possible.
