However, there are very few contractors who invest in and use such technologies in their construction works. Thus, it is crucial to identify the influence factors that drive and hinder their technology usage. A complete understanding of the factors could potentially change the construction industry’s viewpoint on these disruptive technologies and encourage their usage. In this paper, various disruptive technologies are discussed: drones, radio frequency identification (RFID), robotics, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Further links are made on how these technologies can be integrated with Building Information Modelling (BIM). Surveys and interviews were conducted to find the influence factors that drive and hinder the usage of technologies by contractors. Analysis and discussion are done using various analytical methods and findings from both the survey and interviews were presented. This research was conducted in tandem with CM-10AB Part B which focused on the consultants’ perspective.
