However, even with current technology and algorithms, there will always be places that will cause the cameras on the handphone to produce low-lighting images. To have a better image, the users must have access to Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop contains many features that take time for the user to learn how to use it properly to edit the image and most of the time the user does not need advanced features like gamma control. Hence, this project aims to develop a program that is simple for users and can enhance low-lighting images. The proposed method is developed and first tested on MATLAB software and the Image Processing Toolbox that MATLAB provides. After the MATLAB simulation, the image enhancing techniques are written in java on Android Studio software. The Application is tested on an android emulator provided by Android Studio as per the project objective. The main function of the Android Application is to enhance the low-lighting image chosen by the users and save the enhanced image on the handphone. The result of the developed image enhancing technique and the Android Application have met the project objective. However, the developed image enhancement technique can be further improved to cover the different types of low-lighting images.
