新谣起源的历史研究 = The emergence of Xinyao (Singapore Ballads)

新谣的名称于 1982 年 9 月 4 日，《南洋商报》所属的学生刊物《南洋学生》所举办的“我们唱着歌”座谈会诞生的。当时的新谣做为 “新加坡年轻人自创歌谣”的缩写，而非今日受一般人定义的一种曲风。本文所要论述的便是新加坡年轻人自创歌曲是在什么情况下发生，以及它如何逐一扩大，成为了受瞩目的文化现象。另外，本文也会探讨导致新谣这个现象产生的各个因素。并针对诗乐来探讨新谣、与诗乐人物周维介、张泛和诗乐晚期的活动“七月流火”来看诗乐与新谣之间的互动性、联系及诗乐所可能对新谣带来的影响。The birth of the term Xinyao originated from the symposium “Women chang zhe de ge” (loosely translated as The Songs We Sing) held by "Nanyang Xue Sheng", the respective student publication of “Nanyang Siang Pau” on the September 4, 1982. Xinyao, a truncation of “xin jia po nian qing ren zi chuang ge yao”, referred to songs composed by Singapore’s youths, instead of being defined as a certain genre of music today. This paper seeks to explore the birth of Xinyao, and its progression to being a cultural phenomenon amongst Singaporeans in the 1980s. Shiyue participants Ken Chang and Chee Wee Kai played key roles in encouraging teens in the 1980s to compose their own songs, hence developing a link between Shiyue and Xinyao. Based on Qi Yue Liu Huo, a Shiyue event involving several Xinyao participants, this paper will discuss the possible relations between Xinyao and Shiyue and Shiyue’s possible influences on Xinyao.
